Born in 1976, Claire McConnell is the second daughter of long-serving U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell and his first wife, feminist scholar and oral historian Sherrill Redmon. Her parents were married from 1968 to 1980. She grew up alongside her older sister, Elly, and her younger sister, Porter.
Like her siblings, Claire grew up away from the direct demands of her father’s political career, allowing her to pursue personal artistic interests from a young age.
